Taxpayers Urged To Mail In Payments And Avoid Busy Offices

03/25/14 - BARTOW

Joe G. Tedder, CFC, Tax Collector for Polk County, advises taxpayers who have not yet paid their 2013 property taxes, to consider mailing in their property tax payments. Next Monday, March 31 is the deadline for payment of 2013 real estate and tangible personal property taxes and Tedder notes that it may be one of the busiest days in the Tax Collector offices with possible long wait times.

This year, because the annual tax deadline falls on Monday, March 31, many families will be returning home from the spring break holiday and rushing to get their payments made by month-end. Taxpayers have the option of making payments in person, online or by mail. However, mail-in payments must be postmarked and online payments must be made on or before Monday, March 31, 2014.

Tedder says, "My advice is to get your payment in today." Payments made after the applicable payment deadlines will be considered delinquent and late fees and interest will be accrued.

Mail-in payments should be addressed to:

Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector for Polk County
P.O. Box 1189
Bartow, Florida 33831-1189

Mail-in payments may be made by way of a check or money order made payable to Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector. Checks must be in U.S. funds and drawn on U.S. banks. Do not send cash through the mail. Mail-in credit card payments are also accepted when accompanied by a credit card payment slip provided by the Tax Collector's Office. When paying by credit card, a convenience fee of 2.5% will be charged.

Property tax payments may also be placed in drop boxes located inside the Service Centers, which are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day except Wednesday when office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding weekends and observed holidays), and at the Winter Haven Tag Agency, located at 300 Avenue M, N.W., which is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding weekends and observed holidays).

For more information, visit or telephone the Tax Collector's Office at (863) 534-4700.
