TAG ART GOES ON SALE TO PUBLIC NOVEMBER 15

Decorate Your Car's Front Bumper For The Holidays And Support Classroom Art

BARTOW, Florida/ PR Free/ October 14, 2013

Kids Tag Art, a school fundraising project originating at the Polk County Tax Collector's Office, inspires fifth graders to learn about and design their own specialty plate art and in the process, raise supplemental monies for classroom art supplies. This fall, Polk County Kids Tag Art turned eight, and along with Polk County, many more counties throughout Florida are hosting and enjoying their own art contests.

Kids Tag Art inspires young artists to create their own unique design, using the practical application of license plate art to support worthy causes, fashioned after Florida's 120+ specialty license plates. Teachers enthusiastically involve their students in a curriculum-based module that teaches creative problem-solving and innovation to work within the parameters of the palate, to create a highly- visible piece of art designed for the front bumpers of cars.

The program is available to fifth graders throughout Polk County in public, private or charter schools. Currently approximately 100 elementary schools across Polk County participate, earning hundreds of dollars from generous community sponsors just for their involvement in the project. Additional proceeds are possible through the sale of tags.

Southern Homes of Polk County is the major sponsor for Kids Tag Art for a third year. And this year, a Facebook initiative spearheaded by Southern Homes, is designed to drive more tag sales through increased visibility. The drive is underway with a goal of increasing sales by 100%. Since its start in 2006, the project has raised over $150,000. However, more dollars could be raised if the public got involved and purchased student artwork.

In addition to major sponsor Southern Homes of Polk County, other sponsors include Douglass Screen Printers, Grasslands and Woodbridge, MidFlorida, Vecchio, Feldman & Carrier, P.A., Alphagraphics, Florida Heart Research Institute, LEGOLAND, Paint Along Studios, Polk Education Foundation and business partners Polk Museum of Art, Polk Arts Alliance, Polk County Schools, and host, the Tax Collector's Office for Polk County.
