PROPERTY TAX DELINQUENCY CONTINUES TO DECLINE


2011 Tax Certificate Sale Concludes

BARTOW, Florida/PR Free/June 22, 2012

Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector for Polk County, reports that all but 12,607 tax certificates were sold in the real property tax certificate sale which was held online June 1, 2012.

This year, only 5.34% of the real property tax roll was delinquent at the beginning of the tax sale, representing $22,799,229 of the total tax roll of $427,244,151, which was down .32% from last year's delinquency rate of 5.65%.

This year's delinquency rate is the lowest since 2006.

The Tax Collector's Office also reports that the average interest rates awarded to investors went up slightly this year to 5.92%, from 5.17% last year.

$2,450,527 in delinquent tax certificates remain unsold. A subsequent tax sale is expected to be held in the near future for all of these county-held tax certificates.
