4% DISCOUNT DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY


November 30th Is Property Tax Discount Deadline

BARTOW, Florida/ PR Free/ November 28, 2011

The Tax Collector reminds property owners that Wednesday is the last day to take advantage of the 4% discount. Payments must be postmarked or conducted online on or before November 30 to receive the discount rate. Taxpayers may also pay in person by Wednesday at one of the Tax Collector's Branch Office locations, to take advantage of the maximum discount.

Payments postmarked after the November 30 deadline will not qualify for the 4% rate. Discount rates decrease one percentage point each month until March, at which time the full tax amount is due. Property tax bills become delinquent after March 31.

Property owners who do not mail-in their payments may choose to pay online at www.PolkTaxes.com or visit one of the following Tax Collector Branch Office locations:

BARTOW Branch Office - 430 E. Main Street, Bartow

LAKELAND Branch Office - Polk County Government Center, 930 E. Parker Street, Lakeland

HAINES CITY Branch Office - 74 Maxcy Plaza Circle, Haines City

LAKE WALES Branch Office - Polk County Government Center, Lake Wales Plaza, 642 State Road 60 West, Lake Wales

Finally, property tax payments may be placed in drop boxes located inside the branch offices at the above locations. Branch office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding weekends and holidays). Property tax payments may also be placed in a drop box located inside the Winter Haven Tag Agency, located at 300 Avenue M, N.W., between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding weekends and holidays). Note: All drop box payments must be made by check and enclosed in an envelope with the applicable payment slip including the accout number.
