PROPERTY TAX INSTALLMENT PLAN DEADLINE

PROPERTY TAX INSTALLMENT PLAN DEADLINE

Tax Collector Sends Letter To The Editor

BARTOW, Florida/ PR Free/ April 3, 2011

As tax collector, I never want people to pay more in property taxes than they are required to pay. The Tax Collector's Office is typically the final stopping point when an individual is faced with a property tax burden that has grown out of reach.

Our staff understands that burden and feels their concern. Unfortunately, when we reach a tax payment deadline alternatives are limited.

With that in mind, I recently have been working my way around the county visiting community centers, attending churches, neighborhood events and festivals to talk with people about some options that do exist.

One of the best options is to pay your property taxes in four payments. It's called the Property Tax Installment Plan.

This plan allows property owners to pay property taxes in quarterly (four) installments throughout the year instead of one lump sum. However, it is important to note, in order to participate in this plan you must register and start paying before you get the tax bill in November.

The deadline to register for the installment method is April 30 and you will be mailed the first installment bill in June, which must be paid by June 30.

If you or someone you know would like to take advantage of the Property Tax Installment Plan or learn more about it, please visit the Tax Collector's Office online at www.polktaxes.com or contact our office by telephone at 863-534-4700.
