MOBILE HOME REGISTRATION RENEWAL NOTICES SENT OUT

MOBILE HOME REGISTRATION RENEWAL NOTICES SENT OUT

10/27/10 - BARTOW

Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector for Polk County, Florida, reports that mobile home registration renewal notices were sent out to mobile home owners in Polk County.

Persons owning a mobile home and renting the lot to which it is affixed, who do not receive a registration renewal notice by Friday, November 12th, should contact the Tax Collector's Office at the following telephone numbers: 534-4711 in Bartow; 499-2351 in Lakeland; 678-4295 in Lake Wales; and, 298-7577 in Winter Haven and Haines City.

If a mobile home registration is not renewed on time and/or the decal is not properly displayed, the mobile home will be added to tangible personal property tax roll and then property taxes will be due. Tangible personal property taxes on the mobile home often greatly exceed the cost of a mobile home registration and decal.

In addition to being subject to tangible personal property taxes, the failure to display a current mobile home registration decal may also result in the issuance of a notice of violation and citation. An initial citation can result in a fine up to $500 and a second offense can result in a second degree misdemeanor conviction.

So renewing a mobile home registration and decal on time can help to avoid costly penalties!

The deadline for renewing mobile home registrations is December 31st.
