Taxpayers Have Few Days Until March 31st Deadline

BARTOW, Florida/PR Free/March 25, 2010

Joe G. Tedder, CFC, Polk County Tax Collector, reminds property owners that the deadline for payment of 2009 real estate and tangible personal property taxes is Wednesday, March 31, 2010. After this date, any 2009 property tax payments will be considered delinquent and late fees and interest will be incurred.

The Tax Collector's Office reminds those who seek to pay their property taxes by mail must have their payment postmarked on or before March 31, 2010. Payments should be mailed to:

LAKELAND Branch Office - Polk County Government Center, 930 E. Parker Street, Lakeland

HAINES CITY Branch Office - 74 Maxcy Plaza Circle, Haines City

LAKE WALES Branch Office - Polk County Government Center, Lake Wales Plaza, 658 Highway 60 West, Lake Wales

Finally, tax payments may be placed in drop boxes located inside the Branch Offices at the above locations and at the Winter Haven Tag Agency, located at 300 Avenue M, N.W. Regular office hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding weekends and observed holidays).

Taxpayers are urged to get their payments made timely. Failure to comply carries with it a minimum 3% fine for delinquent unpaid accounts beginning April 1 through May 31 and an additional minimum interest charge of 10% will be accrue after June 1.
