Tax Collector's Office Drives Greater Efficiency With 'Check Free' Processing

BARTOW, Florida/PR Free/October 7, 2009

The Polk County Tax Collector's Office was recently awarded the 2009 Askew Award by the Florida Society of Certified Public Managers (FSCPM). This award coincided with their annual conference and commencement exercises held in Orlando where the Honorable Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector for Polk County was the keynote speaker.

Each year, the FSCPM bestows this prestigious award for outstanding work demonstrating the principles and practices learned from the Certified Public Managers program, a government leadership and performance-based management course offered by Florida State University. The Tax Collector group project was chosen from a field of over 100 entries submitted by CPM teams across the state of Florida. Recipients of the state award will go on to compete at the national level.

Members of the team receiving the award were Randy Hunt, Rick Rhodes, Teri Anderson, Ruth Teate, Artis Dukes, Garrett Allison, Loretta Krause, and Sherry Baker from the Polk County Tax Collector's Office, and Greg Boettcher with the City of Lakeland.
