BOAT OWNERS FACE REGISTRATION FEE INCREASES

BOAT OWNERS FACE REGISTRATION FEE INCREASES

06/09/08 - BARTOW

Owners with vessel registrations that expire in June, July, August and September may save money if they renew on or before June 30, 2008!

The Florida Legislature recently passed a measure that provides for substantial increases in vessel registration fees. The new fees will go into effect on July 1, 2008.

The Governor has until June 17 to approve or veto this measure.

Boat owners who have birthdays in June, July, August or September, or those who are required to renew their vessel registrations during this same period, can make sure they avoid paying the higher fees this year by renewing their vessel registrations on or before June 30th. Payments made by mail or online must be postmarked/date-stamped no later than June 30, 2008.

By renewing on or before June 30th, boat owners will save approximately 50% on the increased costs.

Payments may be made by going online to www.PolkTaxes.com or by contacting their local Tax Collector's Office. Contact information is also available at www.PolkTaxes.com.
