POLK'S TAX COLLECTOR OFFICE NAMED AWARD FINALIST

BARTOW, Florida/PR Free/December 1, 2006

The Tampa Bay Business Journal today announced their list of finalists for the annual 2006 TBBJ Business of the Year Awards. This year, Polk County's Tax Collector's Office has been named a finalist in the Government Business category.

The Business of the Year Awards are presented annually by the TBBJ to organizations within the Tampa Bay seven-county region and encompasses a cross section of nine public and private business categories. The award recognizes businesses who have demonstrated leadership in growth management, jurisdictional development, and public service which contributes to the quality of life for its residents.

Back in October, Tax Collector Joe Tedder and his staff submitted the application, compiling a thorough overview of the tax office, its responsibilities, accomplishments and best practices. A listing of other finalists is posted at the Tampa Bay Business Journal's website

Finalists will be honored on Thursday, December 7, at a networking reception followed by dinner and the Awards Ceremony at the Hyatt in Downtown Tampa.
