DID YOU GET A PROPERTY TAX BILL?

DID YOU GET A PROPERTY TAX BILL?

11/12/04 - BARTOW

Joe G. Tedder, Tax Collector, reports that his office already mailed out its annual property tax notices to all of Polk County's property owners.

Beginning November 1st property owners began receiving their 2004 property tax bills for each parcel of property they own according to the way the deed is recorded.

Property owners who have not already received a tax notice should contact the Tax Collector's Office at (863) 534-4721.

Failure to receive a tax notice for a particular piece of property does not relieve the property owner of their obligation to pay their taxes, as Florida law makes taxpayers responsible for knowing that their property taxes are due each year.

?Polkie The Tax Dog? Ad Campaign

In an effort to better inform taxpayers about the state?s requirement making taxpayers responsible for paying their property taxes on time regardless of whether or not they received a bill in the mail, the Polk County Tax Collector?s Office is introducing an advertising campaign entitled ?Polkie The Tax Dog,? beginning in the third week of November.

The ad campaign is scheduled to run in local newspaper advertisements across Polk County during the third week of November and features the following headline, ?Dog Eat Your Property Tax Bill??

Pictured in the ad is ?Polkie The Tax Dog,? who has just finished chewing up a tax bill. The ad harkens to the time honored, but unsuccessful, ?dog ate my homework? story and seeks to convey to taxpayers that they are required to comply with state mandated property tax payment deadlines.
