03/02/01 - BARTOW

The Tax Collector's Office will be closing each of its office locations throughout Polk County, as follows:

Bartow Offices March 5th (Monday), 6th (Tuesday) and 7th (Wednesday)

Haines City Branch & Tag Office March 6th (Tuesday), 7th (Wednesday) and 8th (Thursday)

Lakeland Branch & Tag Office March 12th (Monday)

Lake Wales Branch & Tag Office March 13th (Tuesday), 14th (Wednesday) and 15th (Thursday)

Winter Haven Tag Agency March 19th (Monday), 20th (Tuesday) and 21st (Wednesday)

These offices will be closed to accommodate Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle computer equipment and software upgrades.

As a result of the upgrades customers will begin receiving the state's redesigned registration forms and decals, which have been improved to be more convenient as well as include more vehicle information.

Some of the changes you'll be seeing are:

· Your new registration will be credit card size and fit easily in your wallet or pocketbook.
· The license plate number will appear on the decal and identify it as belonging to a vehicle, · The vehicle identification number will appear on the decal for mobile home or real property.
· The Florida number assigned to identify a vessel will appear on vessel decals.
· For disabled parking placards, the driver license number or permit number will be printed on the decal.

· Saves money - month and year will be boldly printed on one decal, instead of two separate decals for each.
· Convenient - new registration is easy to read, store.
· Helps prevent decal theft - license plate number, vehicle identification number, registration decal number, Florida number or parking placard number are printed on decal. Decals will be specific to registration type.
· Increased visibility - lemon yellow with black lettering.
· Consistent- same registration and decal used for all Florida vehicles / vessels. Same color decal will be used each year with changing expiration dates.

Also, the Tax Collector's Office is upgrading its operations in Bartow.

Bartow will occur in the Main Branch Office at 430 East Main Street.

Best of all customers will now be able to renew their auto tag and pay their property taxes at the same office, just like they are do at the Tax Collector's Lakeland, Lake Wales and Haines City Branch Offices.
